Verity Hope and the honey bees...

Verity Hope lives in the beautiful countryside of Provence in the South of France. For the past 15 years her Mother and Father have been cultivating fragrant lavender from a field behind their home. Like many families in the small village, they rent their field from a local farmer but one day dream of producing enough lavender to purchase their own family field.

As well as producing lavender essential oils the family also make pretty lavender soaps, embroidered lavender bags, delicious lavender breads and a very popular lavender honey.

Verity Hope collects the honey from a local hive which hangs from a tree just along from the fields. It is always a very special time when the honey is ready to harvest, for the bees have been working hard. In fact it takes one bee a life time to produce a teaspoonful of honey!

Verity Hope has enormous respect for the fruitful bees and honours their harvest by saying a little prayer of thanks each time she collects some.

You can find this delicious honey at Verity Hope's market stall every other Saturday morning in the local market square but...

I'll tell you more about that later.
